The corps of Volunteers in Slovakia, under the patronage of the Embassy of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta to the Slovak Republic, has followed many interventions in support of the poor and the sick during the Christmas period in all of Slovakia in accordance to the agreement with the Central European Foundation.The town and villages reached with our interventions where: Bratislava, Trnava, Cifer, Nitra, B. Bystrica, Kosice, Presov, Lackov, Kezmarok, Komarno, Ronzava.This interventions not only consisted with Christmas dinners and receptions for the poor but also by distributing blankets, food packages, shoos and cloths for old and sick, homeless, handicapped and orphans in most of the regions of the Republic of Slovakia.As an example, in a small village in Lackov, of 160 very poor people, about half of the population had no electricity, we have therefore provided to pay the electricity bills, give them mattress, blankets, cloths and wood for the winter.Also the children of three orphanage in the country, which have sent some Christmas letters with requests of gifts have bee mostly satisfied by sending them some of the gifts requested.For the St. Elisabeth hospital, which is in great financial difficulty, we have provided to order a vital equipment device needed for artificial respiration.In Bratislava we have also adapted some rooms for the assistance, for the storage and distribution of the packages to the poor.Most of the assistance have been organized and carried out for free by our volunteers, the total cost of the goods and interventions was of SKK 2.000.000 which is resumed in the attached financial report with some photographic documentation. |
